What Is a Resin Vat? 

A resin vat is a key component of an MSLA 3D printer, which holds the photopolymer resin used for printing. During printing, UV light passes through the release film at the bottom of the vat, such as FEP, PFA, or ACF, curing the resin layer by layer to form the model. A stable, durable vat helps the print process run smoothly, keeps resin flow even, and supports consistent model quality. 

What Is a Heated Resin Vat? 

A heated resin vat adds a heating module to the original resin vat structure, helping keep the resin at a stable working temperature. It is especially useful for printing in low-temperature environments or with high-viscosity engineering resins. 

The official Phrozen aluminum resin vat is CNC-machined and anodized for high strength, durability, and long-term structural stability. It also comes with a pre-installed release film, so you can start printing right after installation.

When Do I Need to Replace My Resin Vat? 

Resin vats generally have a long service life, but you may need to replace one under the following conditions:

  • The heating module malfunctions (fails to heat, or shows abnormal temperature readings) 

If only the release film is damaged, you typically only need to replace the film itself.

To extend the life of your resin vat, we recommend the following: 

  • Clean the vat after every print.  

  • Avoid contact between the release film and sharp tools.  

  • Replace the release film immediately if it is damaged. 

  • Empty the vat before long-term storage.  

  • Keep liquid away from the heating module contacts when cleaning.  

  • Wipe with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth, then let the vat dry completely.

  • If the printer has been in a room below 15°C for a long time, preheat the chamber before starting the print.

Yes. Both vats can be used with Sonic Mighty Revo 16K MAX. The Heated Resin Vat is better for cold rooms or high-viscosity resins, while the Quick-Release Resin Vat is better when faster film replacement is the priority.

Does the Heated Resin Vat have a quick-release film system?

No. The Heated Resin Vat uses a traditional release film installation method with a frame and screws. If fast film replacement is your priority, choose the Quick-Release Resin Vat.

What is the heating temperature setting?

The machine heats both the chamber and the resin vat to the set temperature before printing begins.If theoverall chamber temperature drops abnormally during printing, the system will automaticallysendan alert.

Which release film should I use with the Heated Resin Vat?

Use Phrozen PFA (nFEP) Film for Mighty Revo 16K MAX Heated Resin Vat. Do not use the Quick-Release Resin Vatversion, since the size and installation method are different.

How is a Heated Resin Vat different from a standard resin vat?
